Artist Statement & Bio
Andrea Bottin is a Jacksonville native who has been practicing photography since the early 2000s. After teaching art and photography for 8 years she opened her own photography business to explore life through her viewpoint. Her work takes a narrative approach on the moments in life that make us who we are today.
The images in her portfolio are a reflection of her time during quarantine with her two children and a portrait project exploring black and white photography. Finding the time to reflect and appreciate the little things each day has to offer is a very important part of her process. She acquired this gratitude at a very young age as her parents exposed her to many different walks of life. Having an immigrant father from one of the poorest countries in South America and a mother from Kentucky who was raised in a lower working class family, she became to understand the importance of taking one day at a time and to be thankful for all her surroundings. Traveling to Spanish speaking countries and unable to communicate, she has a strong appreciation for visual communication and learned to explore ways to express her feelings through photography.
